Be careful when throwing around the words ordinary and extraordinary. They're very subjective words that can be abused quite easily.
For example, to you, the guy behind the counter at Starbucks might be leading an ordinary life. Nothing special, just there. But to his nephew, the guy might be leading an extraordinary life. He might be the coolest person on this planet.
Sunrises and sunsets are ordinary, aren't they? Yet we love them. We take pictures of them, we film movies during them, we put them on calendars. To many of us, they're extraordinary.
Are you quick to discount things as ordinary?

Let me guess what makes
Let me guess what makes someone to see something extraordinary in another thing or person.
First of all that someone should be thinking positive and willing to look and evaluate that thing. Giving time, being careful to observe that something should be a must if the quality that makes the thing special is not easy to find. Try to find something special in something needs also creativity and good general knowledge level of the person observing the thing.
Considering all these facts, I can be most of the time very quick to find something extraordinary in things.Maybe it's also something to do with practice :)
I like your suggestion of it
I like your suggestion of it taking practice. Some people are more apt to view things as extraordinary and vice versa. The more you experience, though, the more "practice" you'll have.

Reality exists on more than one level. Things are the same and different simultaneously. Ordinary exists on some levels and in certain ways while Extraordinary exists on other levels and in different ways - simultaneously. You see what you look at. Thanks for posting such a nice article.
"You see what you look at."
"You see what you look at." That sums it all up right there. We control our perception and therefore we control what we're truly seeing. Thanks for the great comment!
Nice post. If you think
Nice post. If you think about it, the world is made up of countless ordinary things working together in an extraordinary way, like little gears in a machine. Without ordinary people, we could never have the diverse cultures that make our world such a unique and exciting place to live. Without plain old water, life on our planet would cease to exist. The list could go on and on.
