I constantly tell people how much I love to use Craigslist for almost anything. I haven't bought tickets off Ticketmaster in 2 years. My furniture comes from Craigslist. Hell, even some freelance gigs from time to time.
I stopped using eBay years ago. The auction format no longer works for me. I don't want to have to HOPE I get the product and HOPE my price is the right price. I simply WANT the item. Now. And I don't want to deal with crazy shipping costs and logistics from who knows where.
That's why I use Craigslist. It's local and it's personal. The best part is the random tidbits you may learn from the person selling you the item. We went to look at a table and chairs yesterday from somebody in Lincoln Park. Ended up not buying the set because we wanted something a little bigger, but we did learn of two great breakfast places in our new neighborhood. And I LOVE breakfast!
This post isn't meant to advertise for Craigslist. Hell they don't advertise anywhere and I'm still talking about them. This post is meant to explain why the eBay model is dead and has been for at least a year now. In my experience, people don't prefer auctions anymore. They prefer the local, personal flavor of a site like Craigsilst.
I love Craigslist. And if you haven't visited the world of Craig lately, I strongly recommend you do.

I do love craigslist. I think
I do love craigslist. I think I do all of my local extracuricualr activity there also.
I have not used ebay in a very long time and from what I understand, eBay is doing a pretty good job of killing themselves off.
