When you're in a hurry, you expect everyone around you to be in a hurry too. The person casually walking wherever without a care in the world is your worst enemy. You do everything in your power to somehow get around them.
When you're in a hurry, you utilize the fastest methods possible to get where you're going. If a moving walkway is available, you hop on and keep walking. If an escalator is available, you step aboard and keep walking.
Have you ever gotten on the escalator and stopped walking?
It's really a crazy feeling. Despite the fact that the escalator is already moving you along, you still feel like you should be walking too. The feeling of not walking on the escalator almost feels unnatural. You're stopped in your path.
I think we all need this feeling once in a while. With all that's going on these days, it helps to occasionally hop on the escalator and just stand there. Take in all that's around you. Don't worry, you're still moving. But at least now you can enjoy what you might have missed.

I know exactly what you're
I know exactly what you're talking about. Unless I'm actually in a big rush I always stop on escalators and moving walkways and just look around at all the people who keep walking. I'm sure they're not all in a big rush, they probably just feel like they should keep walking. But I prefer to take a few moments and look around instead.

I agree. I've had moments
I agree. I've had moments when I've stopped on the escalator and been much better for it. It helps for us to stop and reflect.
BTW - I love the design of your blog. Excellent work.

@leila - Agreed! There are times when we need to be moving quickly and there's times when we need to stop and look around. Thanks for the comment!
@Andrew - It's getting harder and harder these days with the faster pace of everything around us, which I suppose makes the moments when we stop to reflect even more meaningful. Thanks for reading! I love the name of your blog :)
